What You Should Know About Commercial Vitamin C

While naturally occurring Vitamin C has wonderful properties, it is not stable once it’s been removed from its original source. When Vitamin C is taken from an orange or rose hip it breaks down in a matter of days and as such it's not usable in a skincare product. So to achieve a serum with vitamin C big corporate skincare is using what is called a "derivative vitamin C. And this is a problem because when these derived compounds are applied to your skin they actually increase free radicals, which is exactly what it’s supposed to be preventing.
