While naturally occurring Vitamin C has wonderful properties, it is not stable and so once it’s been removed from its original source it rapidly looses it's vitality. When Vitamin C is taken from an orange or rose hip, it breaks down in a matter of days and as such it's not usable in a skincare product. In order to achieve a serum with Vitamin C, big corporate skincare uses what is called a "derivative Vitamin C.
